Measles claims one more life in Lahore

MUHAMMAD SALEEMLAHORE: Another child Ehsan died of measles here at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Saturday raising the death toll to 35 in Lahore, while around 60 fresh victims of the disease were admitted to different hospitals in the provincial metropolis. Out of these affected children, 40 were brought to Mayo Hospital while 13 others were taken to Children’s Hospital and seven to Jinnah Hospital. The Medical Superintendent Mayo Hospital Dr Zahid Pervez said that affected children are also being kept in “Isolated Ward”. Most of the affected children were brought from Shahdara, China Scheme, Bhatti Gate and other adjoining areas. He said all out facilities are being extended to the victims. Health department is launching a special mass vaccination campaign against measles in Lahore from April 29 to May 5. During the campaign, children would be vaccinated against measles in all government and private schools.
