SC seeks expenditure detail on Nandipur, Chichokimalyain

ISLAMABAD: The supreme court on Tuesday directed Joint Secretary Water and Power to submit the report regarding the expenditures on Nandipur and Chichokimalyain power projects. A three-judge bench comprising Chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Afzal and Justice Gulzar Ahmad resumed the hearing of the petition filed by Khawaja Asif a Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader. During the course of proceeding, Joint Sectary Water and Power presented the report before the apex court regarding the improvement till the day. He apprised the court that the estimated cost of one project was 23 billion which was increased to 57 billion now. He also apprised the court that the different meetings were held between finance ministry and water power over the issue. Justice Ijaz while expressing his annoyance said people were dying because of loadsheding, and ministries were just doing meeting nothing else. Chief Justice remarked that respondent always try to avoid court's orders, Rental Power Project (RPP) case was very simple but such elements made it complicated.
