ECP is operating independently for holding free, fair elections

ISLAMABAD: Former Attorney General of Pakistan Maqbool Elahi Malik has said passage of 18th, 19th and 20th Amendments by the political parties have brought change in the country.Talking to Radio Pakistan, he added that Election Commission of Pakistan is independently operating to implement its strategic plan.He stated that heavy weight politicians may be declared disqualified for the next elections due to effective scrutiny of the ECP.He said system is transparent and it will help ensure free and fair elections. He said formation of caretaker setup has been completed following taking oath of the federal cabinet and there should be no ambiguity regarding holding of the elections.Copyright APP (Associated Press of Pakistan), 2013
