Fear of joining other party major reason behind delay in awarding tickets: Sheikh Rasheed

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has claimed that leaders of the main political parties have filed nomination papers as independent candidates. He stated this while talking to media persons after appearing before a returning officer as part of scrutiny of his nomination papers. Sheikh Rasheed said that all major parties are worried that their candidates may join other parties. Due to this fear, they are delaying the awarding of tickets, he opined. He further claimed that some key political figures would go into the elections independently without seeking ticket from any major party. The former railway minister said that main leaders would not contest elections against each other. The AML leader said that he was in contact with religious parties to seek their support for his candidates in Punjab. Sheikh Rasheed said AML and PTI have made seat adjustment on two Rawalpindi seats -- NA 55 and 56.Copyright INP (Independent News Pakistan), 2013
