Ambassador Sherry Rehman discusses Pak, US relations with key American lawmaker

WASHINGTON: Pakistan's ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman met with Representative Eliot Engel, a Democrat from New York, and discussed relations between the two countries.Representative Engel is the senior most Democrat on the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee. The meeting was part of the Ambassador's outreach campaign to the 113th Congress.According to the Pakistani embassy, the ambassador gave Rep. Engel an update on Pakistan-US relations including the return to a positive trajectory, thanked him for the US assistance to Pakistan and briefed him on political developments in Pakistan, particularly the upcoming historic constitutional transition from one democratically elected government to the next.She also took the opportunity to lay out Pakistan's concerns and priorities in the relationship while giving details of Pakistan's contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.Representative Engel stated that the Pakistan-US relationship was extremely important for both countries. Both needed each other.
