FIA team to probe Musharraf's Nov 3, 2007 act: SC told

ISLAMABAD: Attorney General for Pakistan Munir A Malik Thursday informed the Supreme Court that a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team had been set up to probe the acts of former president Pervez Musharraf that led to the imposition of emergency on November 3, 2007. The three-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, resumed the hearing of identical petitions seeking trial of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on treason charges. Munir A. Malik apprised the court that a commission would be formed to ascertain transparency during the investigation.The FIA has the authority to initiate probe against Pervez Musharraf for the high treason act, he added He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ordered the Interior Secretary to form an investigation team to probe Pervez Musharraf's November 3, 2007 acts. He also presented the directive ordering setting up of an investigation team. The Attorney General said after the conclusion of probe, a special tribunal court would be established for the trial.During the proceedings, Ibrahim Satti, counsel for Pervez Musharraf, apprised the bench that his client had objections over the reply submitted in the court by the Attorney General.
