Islamabad police nab 118 street criminals and 50 gamblers

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 118 persons involved in street crimes during the current year and recovered 74 snatched mobile phones and looted cash from their possession, a police spokesman said.On the directions of IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, SSP Islamabad Yassen Farooq asked all police officials and Station House Offices (SHOs) to launch aggressive campaign against those involved in street crime.During this drive, he said that Capital police obtained the record of those persons who had ever remained involved in street crimes and arrested a total of 118 criminals.SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq has directed all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions and take stern action against the anti-social elements.Meanwhile, Islamabad Police arrested 50 gamblers during raids in various areas of city and recovered stake money as well as other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from them.SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq has also directed to ensure vigilance against the suspects and make effective checking at all entry and exit points of the city.
