Police arrest 39 accused in last 24 hours

KARACHI: The Karachi police in their drive against criminals, arrested 39 accused from different areas of the metropolis during the past 24 hours.A police statement on Thursday said that those arrested include 13 absconders and proclaimed offenders as well as those allegedly involved in cases of dacoity, robbery, extortion etc.It said that 16 weapons of different calibres were also recovered from those arrested.As many as 16 people were killed in the metropolis in different incidents during the last 24 hours.Nine of these lost their lives in a terrorist attack on Burns Road on Wednesday, three bodies were recovered while two people were killed because of `unknown reasons' while two were victim of target killing.Action was initiated against 63 persons for violating the ban on pillion riding.Copyright APP (Associated Press of Pakistan), 2013
