Inquiry into granting bail of police officials ordered

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Thursday ordered LHC Member Inspection Team (MIT) to hold an inquiry into a matter of granting bail to police officials in a murder case by an additional district sessions judge and submit report within two days.Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by Dilshad Begum for fair investigation of his son's murder case.Earlier, a report by sessions judge who granted bail to the accused police officials was submitted before the court.However, the court did not agree with the reasons for granting bail and rejected it.The court adjourning the matter till June 30 ordered MIT to probe into the matter and submit report within two days.The petitioner through his petition submitted that the Lower Mall Police officials including SHO Maqsood Gujjar and others kept his son Tahir Naveed in illegal custody and tortured him to death. He pleaded the court to issue directions for fair investigation of the matter.On last hearing, the court had summoned a report from AD SJ after it was submitted that the accused had been granted bail.Copyright APP (Associated Press of Pakistan), 2013
