Sales tax imposed on sale of SIM cards

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reduced the sales tax on the import of mobile phones whereas tax has been imposed on the sale and activation of Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards.According to FBR notification, on the import of cheap mobile phones‚ 150 rupees per unit sales tax will be payable‚ 250 rupees on expensive mobiles while 500 rupees sales tax would be levied on the import of Smart phones.However the FBR has imposed tax on the activation of SIM cards.Copyright INP (Independent News Pakistan), 2013
