Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Three ships carrying containers and vehicles were berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday, port sources said here on Friday.Two more ships carrying containers and edible oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.Berth occupancy was 45% at the Port on Friday where a total of five ships namely CGM Michaelas, Mare Atlanticum, Alliance Fairtax, Bella- L and Bunga Azalea are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, vehicles, rice and edible oil respectively.A cargo volume of 38240 tonnes comprising 18896 tonnes imports and 19344 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1436 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during the last 24 hours, the sources further said.Copyright APP (Associated Press of Pakistan), 2013
